“SUICIDE” VERDICT

DEATH AFTER EIGHTEEN YEARS.

LONDON, March 11

Eighteen years after cutting his throat a man has died at Burton-on-Trent (England) of the effects. “I’m afraid my verdict must be suicide,” said the Coroner at the inquest. The widow said she knew that her husband liad cut his throat —“But it was eighteen years ago,.” she added. A “suicide” verdict was recorded, however, though the Coroner said there was not enough evidence to show the man’s state of mind. The dead man was George Goodhead, a waggoner, aged 52.

Death was clue to exhaustion following the partial narrowing of the larynx, and partly to ulceration caused by a. tube in the throat. ’
