BUTTER AND cheese increase

WELLINGTON, March 7. New records in : butter and cheese reduction in the ' Dominion were set by the gradings for the seven months of , the season to February 28. Butter shows an increase of 19.71 per ceni., and oheese an increase of 11.ba, tlie equivalent in butter fat giving an r„ crease of 17.599 per cent.', compared to the corresponding period last season. A conference of dairying interests convened by the Minister, of Agriculture was held to-day to discuss the question of improving the quality of New Zealand cheese. No official state* ment was available to-night, but it i s understood there was general agreement that closer supervision of the industry was needed. The conference considered steps should be taken to ensure closer supervision or me control of all dairying products from farm to factory, and more supervision in connection with the management in factories. It is believed tli e Ministe r agreed to tM« course. A committee was appointed to confer with the authorities controlling the industry.
