CARGO FROM CANADA

LARGE SHIPMENT ARRIVES. WIDE RANGE OF ARTICLES. AUCKLAND, March 7. A large quantity of Canadian merchandise for New Zealand was brought {by the steamer Canadian Scottish, which arrived at Auckland from Halifax. The vessel’s holds were full with about 6000 tons of cargo, of which 2500 tons will be unloaded at Auckland and the remainder at Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. The cargo consists mostly of rolls oi newsprint and bales of paper, while in addition there are quantities of galvanised iron piping, rails, pulpboard, cotton goods, brushware, carbide, linoleum and other general items. The amount of cargo brought by the Canadian 'Scottish is remarkable, because another steamer, the Canadian Victor, arrived pt Auckland from Halifax, via Australia, last Saturday, with about {IOOO tons of Canadian cargo for New Zealand, and the Canadian Leader, which left Halifax for New Zealand last week, is expected to have a large quantity of cargo. Both the Canadian Victor and the Canadian Scottish will load as well as discharge in New Zealand. They will load a considerable quantity of general cargo at New Zealand ports before they proceed to Australia to complete loading for New York, Boston and Halifax.
