Mr Cermak, of Ohwago, died at seven o’clock on Monday morning. MR CERMAK’S FIGHT FOR LIFE. MRS GILL IS STILL SERIOUS. (Received this day at 10.30 a.m.) MIAMI (Florida), March 6. Mr Cermak . died quietly at 6.55 o’clock on Monday morning without emerging from th. e coma into which he sank on Sunday night. He had rallied -from three . crises in a gallant stand ‘against the complication© of colitis, pneumonia, and heart trouble, but gangrene appeared in th e lower tube of the right lung on Saturday night and he grew steadily worse. The lung was the. one grazed by Zangara's bullet.

Another victim of Zangar a remains critically ill, ' Mi’s Joe Gill, who was shot through the abdomen.

Mr Cermak, Mayor of Chicago, was seriously injured at Miami early last month, when an attempt was made by. Zangara to assassinate the then president-elect, Mr Roosevelt. Several bullets- were fired, none of -which struck Mr Roosevelt, but five other in the immediate vicinity were hit, including Mr iCermak and Mrs GUI. With these two exceptions, the patients’ condition is beyond danger. Mr Cermak has been lying critically ill ever since, while Mrs Gill is still seriously ill.
