When the case was heard a fortnight ago,. Detective-Sergeant; Kelly. said that defendant a manufacturing: and importing chemist, sent certain documents through the post to the. stationmasters at Taumarunui and Mount-Eden. The letters contained requests that' the circulars enclosed should be distributed to members of the staffs.
' Mr Sullivan contended . that neither the subject matter nor the wording was indecent, and that therefore ,no offence had been committed. In convicting defendant, the magistrate said it was not known into whose hands the documents might fall, and pn some : people they might have an indecent or even an immoral effect.
