NAPIER, March 1. In the Supreme Court to-day the following; sentences'-: were imposed Charles Eclwstfrd -South.woed,Aahouj-of, 29,' for indeqent assault on a girl under 16, two'years’ reformative.
Leslie- Harold Banks,.postal---25, theft, of postal packet containing"' cheque for- £B, six- months’ hard labour. His IHohour, Mr Justice Blair: .nonsuited N.Z. Fisheries- Ltd/in the claim .against- Napier Harbour -Board for £2,250 13s'9d,- costs incurred in raising: the trawlers, which sank in- the inner harbour ,on December 25th, 1931. His Honour held that the negligence- alleged by‘ the plaintiff company on the part of the board, was not proved. :

Ah the Supremo Court, before: Justice Reed, Witilam Alfred Sandman, 37, appeared for sentence on two charges of theft,. (1) totalling £398 13s 3d from the Australian Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society Ltd., (2) did make a, false document altering a lodgment slip on the Commercial Bank bf Australia. He was sentenced to 18 months’ reformative on ..each Charge, , to. be'concurrent.
