MINING
KAWARAU CLAIM SOLD
TO CHRISTCHURCH SYNDICATE.
DUNEDIN, February 25
The purchase price of Messrs Bell and Hooper’s mining claim on the Kawarau of 20 acres, which hag been sold to a, Christchurch syndicate, is reported to be £12,500. Inquiries made showed that the Aote-a-voa Gold Prospecting Company has purchased a three months’ option over Messrs Bell and Hooper’s claim, with the right of extension for another throe months. The purchase price Was £12,500, the terms- being £9OO in cash to be paid in four two-monthly instalments, and £3500 in shares in a company which will be promoted to to work the claim. Messrs Bell and Hooper have therefore retained a big interest in the claim.
OLD MINER’S DEATH
DUNEDIN, February 25,
Andrew Young, who has- died at Matakanui at the age of 99 years, was one of the old school of miners who cam© from Victoria to- the gold rush at Gabriel’s Gully.
