NO STUNT FLIGHT
COBHAM’S AUSTRALIAN FLIGHT
LONDON, February 16. “The flight will not be a stunt,, but a genuine demonstration of the commercial possibilities of flying,” said Sir Alan Cobliam, in an interview with the special representative of the “Sun ”
Sir Alan, with Squadron-Leader Helmore, plans to fly non-stop to Australia in a cargo plane, refuelling in the air.
Tire selection of Australia as a destination, however, depended upon the other directors of his company, Air Speed, Ltd. “If the flight is successful between Britain and Australia, air traffic would be revolutionised,” said Sir Alan. “Aviation is progressing so rapidly that there will, in a few years, be more p]a;nes to and from Australia than steamers, thus solving the great disadvantage of Australia’s distance from England.”
