RESIDENT MINISTER

AUSTRALIA’S FUTURE POLICY

(United Press Association —P.y Electric Telugi pu—Copyright-)

LONDON, February 21. Mr Bruce, who was a guest at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon, made the first public pronouncement as to future Australian representation in Loudon, saying: “L cannot believe that the system or maintaining a Cabinet Minister in London will be extended by Australia, or followed by other Dominions. I am here as a Minister still in the Government, to do certain specific jobs, after which I shall return to Australia. AVe may temporarily continue keeping some Minister here but it is unlikely that we always will be able to spare one ; consequently, we probably will revert to the system of a High Commissioner. which, after all, worked fairly well."

In a subsequent interview, Mr Bruce declined ;to amplify his luncheon remarks regarding the policy of London representation, but the specific jobs .referred to may now be regarded as almost entirely financial. Air Bruce, however, commenced to occupy the official residence in Ennismore Gardens only in January, and this, with other factors, may be interpreted ns meaning a stay of at least another three monthis.
