Christchurch trainer, and when defendant could not- pay in fall, plaintiff paid Edwards out of liis own pocket and accepted Peters notes. The Magistrate upheld the defendant’s contention- that t.'.e note was void under the’ Gaming, Act. and further tii,at the .transaction was illegal nncer the law regarding bookmakers. Judgment was given for defendant without casts.
