FIRE IN LAUNCH
MAN AND WOMAN BURNED

AUCKLAND, February 23. A thirty-five foot fishing launch, owned by C. Kolfe, was badly damaged to-day by fire. The owner and his wife have been taken to the hospital. The fire occurred when, the launch was taking aboard benzine. An explosion occurred, and the flames spread rapidly. Kolio and liis( wife were unable to escape before they were badly burned. The launch was extensively damaged It was valued at four hundred pounds, and was not insured.
FIRE ENGINE SMASH. DUNEDIN, February 23. A fire engine this afternoon, in. manoeuvring to avoid colliding with a motor car, when on its way to attend a fire < all, violently struck a verandah pest at the corner of Rattray and Princes Streets. Fireman J. I. McDonnell suffered severe head injuries, and a compound fracture of the left leg. He was taken to the hospital.
