SECOND ATTEMPT
ON MR ROOSEVELT BOMB DISCOVERED IN HIS MAIL. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, February 21. The “Washington Post,” in a. copyrighted story on Wednesday, gays; A second apparent attempt on the 11 fe of the President-elect, (Mr Roosevelt, was 'revealed on Tuesday night with tne discovery of a bomb addressed to him amid the incoming mail at the City Post Office.
It was discovered by clerks when it tumbled from a mail sack, and the box in which it was contained burst open. It is said to have been wired to explode when properly jarred or struck.
The explosion might not have resulted fatally, but considerable harm would have been clone to the person handling it. The work is described as'that of an amateur.

WORLD TRADE REVIVAL
NEW YORK. February 21
The President-elect, Mr F, Roosevelt, to-night named Senator (jordel) Hull, of Tennessee, as secretary of State, and Mr William Wood in, New York as secretary to the Treasury. The latter is a leading industrialist.
A veteran -Congressman, Senator ■Hull, is recognised as an expert on taxation and tariff matters. He lias always adhered to low tariff policies. He is thus qualified to negotiate the complicated tariff problems arising out of t-h e Ottawa Conference with a view of implementing Mr Roosevelt's thesis of a revival of world trade through tariff adjustments.
Mr Wood in has accepted the Treasury post after Senator Gl as s had declined.,
