GISBORNE ASSAULT CASE

The quarterly sitting of the Supreme Court" Opened ‘before Air Justice Blair, who, inOriS'.efearge. .to' the Grand Jury, congratulated! the district- on the fact that there • w£re no cases before the Grand Jury--involving dishonesty, all the. cases, curiously enough, being Cases of assault, involving in all seven persons-. As far as two of the accused were- concerned, ■ the assault charges are of a- sesual nature. The jury returned true bills in all cases. Kurd. Eiiigi. aired 18, was charged with assaglb with intent to- commit, rape. and. with indecent assault on a female under, the age of 16 years. He was- found riot guilty on the first charge, but-, guilty on the second charge, with a recommendation to ■mercy on account of accused’s youth. He was remanded for sentence.
