Amongst two .thousand tons of scrap iron being loaded into tlie Japanese freighter ftyoka Main to-day are several guns mounted on their car-riao-es. 'They are trophies of the great war which were brought to New Zealand at considerable expense tp the Government, but since have been sold as scrap iron. Nine of these guns until recently were stored in Auckland domain, but the City Council could not find any other public body which wanted them Tlie Mayor, Air Hutchison, to-day expressed regret that those trophies should have such a fate, but he stressed tlie Council's decision was made only after a vain effort to find an apomuriate resting place.
