A Pill is now before the Legislative Assembly seeking to remove social bans on the ' f‘un tone liable” cast, and to grant them the right to worship in the temples, hitherto jeserved exclusively for the Hindu orthodox worshippers. As far as Hindu society is concerned, Doctor Ambedkar, leader of tlie “un'toiicliables,” declares that lie is out to destroy the caste question. He bitterly attacks the orthodox “concession” to “untouchables” of the right to enter temples, and threatens that he and his followers will either reconstruct Hinduism or find another religion. The majority of orthodox Hindus, who hitherto favoured the partial abolition of the caste system, are alarmed by Dr. Ambedkar’s declaration. He is suddenly 1 revealed as a fighting labour leader with a potential host of 40,000,000 uiiemancipated serfs behind 'him.
