OXFORD STUDENTS
OBJECT TO DISLOYALTY.
PACIFIST CONTROVERSY,
LONDON, February 17
A pacifist controversy at Oxford University reached a climax to-night, when a party of undergraduates, headed by the stalwart rowing men, raided a meeting of the Union Society, seized the minute book and tore out a. pagerecording the following resolution, which was passed by 275 votes to 153 at the last meeting, “That this bouse in no circumstances will fight for its King and country.” This excessive pacifism dieted angry protests from present and past Oxford men, and resulted in the receipt of a parcel of 27.5 white feathers, which, it is rumoured, came from a, women’s coilfege. A special meeting of the union has been called for the purpose of rescinding the offending resolutionFollowing the raid the minutes were carried in triumph round the university and burned at the foot of the Martyrs’ Memorial. Oxford thus vindicated its loyalty.
