SAILORS BANNED

AS WIVES BY IRISH GIRLS. Irish girls at Larne, County Antrim, have evidently put a .ban on boys who go to sea. Their reason, partly founded on the experiences of elder sisters, is that a girl cannot expect any real companionship oi' even a tolerably happy home life when the man of the house is at home to-day and away to-morrow. The wife has to manage home and children on her own, and there is the added anxiety that is ever hovering round those who ply the sea. Another side of the question was explained by a young girl. “Sailors,” she said, “will sit at home and entertain their ship cronies rather than g„ to the movies or other amusements. Then, there is the rush in unpacking, washing, re-packing, and rushing away before one has time to have a talk.” The result is that there are dozens of nice eligible young men going into Larne in their ships who cannot find wives.
