Pinfold, Mayor of Hamilton and chairman of th e committee, tendering his resignation as a member of the committee at a meeting yesterday. " DrwPinfold said members of the com. mitte e would recollect that on numerous occasions the committee had protested to the Government regarding the inadeO of relief granted to the local unemployed and that it had mad c suggestions in other ways to the Unemploy, rnent Board. . Following on a recent •protest, an increase ill the allocation,wa<s made amounting to about £5, to be spread over about 500 men. The position the members were placed in as a committee had been GUbertian, and as they were powerless, apparently, to afford -any real assistance to either the Government or to the local unemployed, owing to th, e restrictions and.regulntion« of the Unemployment Board, he felt that no useful purpose would be served by the committee continuing to function, -and he therefore moved that gifittedeoirvmittee disband. - G- r<i ' v ; discussion, Dr pinfold said, he ■would withdraw the motion and'simply intimate that h e would resign.
