CLAUSE IN EDUCATION BILL

DUNEDIN, February 16,

As the result of a protest at thy of the Otago Education' Board, on Wednesday morning, regarding the powers .given to School Committees to suspend teachers, a_ report was forwarded to the Minister of Education yesterday morning. The Chairman of the Otago Board (Mr Jamies Wallace) , r ead the .following reply today : “With reference, to Clause 40 of th e Education Amendment Bill, through a misunderstanding, power is -given vto school committees to susptend teachers for neglect of duties, etc. This wag not intended, and steps are now being taken to amend the clause in committee., y ; -P :
