WEDDING BELLS

McGUIBE—SHUKEB. The marriage was celebrated at tire Metliod.st, Ciiurch, Lyttelton, recently, of Alma Reed, youngest daughter ti Mr and Mrs G. Shuker, Lyttelton, and John Conway, second son of Mr and Mrs E. McGuire, Aberdeen. Tno ltev. A. H. Fowles performed the ceremony, which was fully choral, and Miss Freda Foster was the organist. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsome gown of ivory satin cut on empire lines. The long, tight-fitting sleeves fell in points over the hands. Panels of satin, fitted closely at tire ihipline and widening, fell into a fiarc-d skirt which reached in front to the ground and continued at the back into a train. With this she wore a beautifully-embroidered veil of tulle arranged to fit her Load and relieved with bands of orange blossom. She carried an armlet of. flame begonias and gladoli. The two bridesmaids, Miss' Daisy Perry, Lyttelton, ant Lorna Shadbolt, Hokitika, cousin of the bride, wore . dainty frocks of love-irirthe-mist blue pique velour imprime, the ankle-length ;ivirts of which were fored. The eross- ■ over bodices were finished with shoulder ruffles. Their unusual head-dresses were made in the shape of a flat velvet flower and were softly finished iv;tj. satin ribbon to tone with their frocks. They carriet armlets of pale pink begonias and blue hydrangeas. Mama© Couch, Dunedin,* neice of the bride, wore a Victorian frock of eau de nil frills'. She carried a posy of lemon begonias and roses. Mr Arthur Couch, Rapa lei, was best man and Mr Nelson, Lyttelton, was groomsman.

A reception was afterwards held at the Excelsior Hall. Mrs Shuker received her guests wearing a smart navy satin gown trimmed with beige georgette and a hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of red begonias. When leaving later for the south, the bride was .rearing a smart frock of navy c-ela-.je'.se with floral trimming to tone. Her swarthed turban bat bad a spotted eye veil and she carried a tailored coat of navy tricoline. Mr and Mrs McGuire’s future home will be at Hokitika.
