ASHBURTON HOSPITAL BOARD.

CHARGES OF PIN-PRICKING

ASHBURTON, February 13

By five votes to three the Ashburton Hospital Board decided to-day to take no further action regarding the statement made at Methven during die last hospital board election campaign alleging that the medical superaueiident of the Ashburton Hospital (Dr H. S. Bill cliff) had been subjected to pin-pricking by certain members of the board.

It was expected that Dr Billcliff would make a statement to the board to-day but instead of this the. board received a letter from his legal

adviser. Mr G. S. Hardy said it was time the board ceased being the comicopera board of New Zealand. Things had been said at the board meetings which he did not like, and he had often felt like jumping up and “letting go.” The thing was talked about in other towns, and the Ashburton? board certainly was the comicopera board of New Zealand. Mr W. Bryant said the board, Which used to be a happy family, was new the laughing-stock of New Zealand. and he had just about had enough. Hn; remarks were supported by Mr C. A. Champion.
