BOXING FATALITY

SCLIAEF SUCCUMBS

CARNERA’S ARREST ORDERED. (United Press Association—By Electric 'Teiegraph—Copyright.] (Received Feb. loth, at 9.40 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 14. Ernie Sehaef died to-day. With him were his mother, Airs Lucy Sehaef, and his manager and friend, Johnny Buckley. Dr. Byron Stookly, brain specialist, in charge of tiie operation, said that Sehaef must have been knocked out on bis feet. Throughout the thirteen rounds on Friday night, a spectator who shouted for action, crying “fake,” was struck with the fact that Schaa.f offered only desultory defence, at times wa’king into Camera’s’ gloves with his arms -almost wide. The blow which dropped him landed lightly. Sehaef recovered front influenza only a fortnight before the fight. Friends said that- the burning ambition of Sehaaf was to enter the priesthood. He was a devoted Catholic and a closefriend of Rev. Father Steuver, who administered the last rites. Shortly before coming here to train, Sehaef attended a religious retreat at Boston. Ca.rnvrn’s arrest has been ordered. I Doctor Charles Norris, chief medical examiner, New York City, .saßl that the death of Sehaef resulted from natural causes, not from any injury in the ■Camera bout. Dr Norris, who performed the autopsy, said that the exact nature of the substance pressing on the, brain was to be ■determined by microscopic examination later. Dr N-orris’ opinion wag contrary to that of Dr Stookly who said that he must -have been knocked out on his feet. The damage could not have resulted from anything but this match.
