North and South Islands. Air Holland added; “It is stated that th e British low temperature carbonisation process produces from -every ton of coal about three-quarters of a ton of semi-coke, about 5000 cubic feet of gas, and 18 gallons of a tar which is -converted i- n to oil.” Mr Holland sard the cheapest kind of coal is used in this process, and there is a big demand for its by-products.
