DECISION CONSIDERED WISE

(Ter Tress Association — Copyright.)

WELLINGTON February 12

Another CoMiUon party caucus, the third in a month, wilt be he'd on Tuesday. The principal business, it '’&> understood, will ue a uiscuss.-o;'. on tblist of exemptions under the Sales Tax Bill and the Government’s proposals to impose <a bachelor tax. Since th L > session has -resumed, there have, been two caucuses, the first of which lasted for a day and a half. It was characterised by plain speaking, during which the Government was able to ■<>st-imat o tho amount of support ft would obtain on its high pegged exchange policy. The second was hc.d last week when further indications Oi the Government’s policy were given.

Now' that notice has been gl v t n or a third caucus, members fe.e,l that the Government has decided again to take them into its confidence and discuss with the rank and file of the party the details of it* programme. They fed that' this decision is a- wise one, for up till now, members of the Coalition have been in. ignorance of the details cf the Government’s plans until they were revealed on the floor of the House. Much interest attaches itself to Tuesday’s caucus because of the formation last-week of the All New Zealand party. Several members of the Coalition party, including Messrs W. Veitch (Wanganui), W. Bodkin . (Central. P. McSkimming (CluUia)' and D. McDoujra.ll (Matnura) we re -reported to ha v e been present at fiom? of th e confciences which were held pvtoy t 0 the formation of the party, and an indication of their future policy will lie gamed from the knowledge as to whether they attend the caucus or not'.
