GIRL INJURED
MOTOR ACCIDENT IN DUNEDIN.
“PARKED” CAR JUMPS KERB
DUNEDIN, February 10
An unusual accident of a distressing character occurred in Moray Place this afternoon as the result of wlncli a high school girl-was admitted to the hospital and placed on the “dangerously ill” list. A motor car parked pare! lei kvith the kerb opposite tne Public Trust Office, ran backwanji, jumped the footpath on the other side of tile road, End pinned the girt against the wall of the Kodak Company’s building.
The injured girl was Tui Rutherford, aged 16 years, who resides with her parents at Port Chalmers, and she suffered severe head injuries, as well as laceration of the right leg. The car was left by its owner, A. A. Douglas, 'of Waikouaiti on a rise outside First Church with the hand brake full on. A short time later, when he returned his car had disappeared. A witness of the accident said he saw the car jump the kerb going backwards, and saw it strike the girl, pinning her against the wall. When taken to the hospital the girl was still conscious, but her condition was regarded as serious.
