THE HIKURANGI CONFERENCE

It is unofficially reported that, as .the outcome of a conference between the miners’ Cxcutive and the Hikurahgi’ Coal. Company officials, the latter hate decided to give a fortnight’s notice to all employees eonsquent upon the continued loss on operations, but offering the men the alternative of taking- the mine over on a contract basis, tue company to supply the surface staff. It is expected that the notices will he served to-day.
