A wedding which occasioned considerable interest was solemnized last Wednesday, at St. Mary’s Church, Hokitika, the contracting partie s being Eilc'-’n. yoimger davigiite.. of Mr and Alt's J Agnew of Arabura Valley, and Ray, ■third son of air and Mrs J. -Heiidren, of. Cpawa, Christchurch. Nuptial Mag, was celebrated by Rev. FaNier McKay, and the wedding march was piayed by Miss Eih-cn Daly. The bride who entered the churcii on the arm of her father looked charming in an aide length frock of ivory frilled effect, and tight-fitting sleeves ice and coatee of angel lace with double frilled effect, and tight-fitting sleeve puffed to the elbow, ghe wore the usual wreath and veil, surmounted by a Russian coronet, and carried a bouquet of gladiolus, nasteriums and maidenhair fern.
The bride was attended by her sister Mae, wearing a floral silk ninon frock with d corresponding coatee trimmed with lemon accordeon pleating ; with lemon /striped straw hat and shoes .to tone. She carried a bouquet of marigolds and .nasturtiums. .Shirley Web lev, of 'Nelson, cousin of the bcde, made a sweet little flower gii’l, dressed in a pastel ankle length organ-di frock and tulle mop cap. She carried a bouquet of sweet peas.
The bridegroom was attended by has brother, Augustine, as best man. On leaving the church the bride wars presented with a lucky horseshoe by M~s s Doreen Dickering, cousin of the bride
After the ceremony about fifty guilts adjourned to Preston’s tearooms where the wedding breakfast was partaken of. The bride’s' mother received ifier gU esfc s wearing a navy frock of vespa • crepesatin with howler hat to match; and th e bridegroom’s mother wore a frock of black crepe athol, with a black chipped straw hat .t-o match. After the reception the party motored to “Willowbank” the residence of -the bride’s parent s where -an enjoyable afternoon was spent °n the lawn -where afternoon tea was dispensed. Later when the happy couple left the b,.,V, xvn.s wearing f) ’ I--'* ,-ummer coal with a blue bangkok straw hat with shoes to tone. Mr a-ild Mi's Hendren’.s futu r e home will be in Ashburton.
