HUGE GRASS FIRE
STARTED BY CHILD WITH MATCHES.

MELBOURNE, January 28
A serious grass fire occurred at Salt Creek yesterday. It was eauged by Some campers allowing a child to light a fire in the gr.tss paddock with matches. Nearly 2000 acres of sheep pasture . were burned, and only for the strenuous work of fighters, wno had three motor-truck's with water tanks, the consequences would have been more serious.
A gymkhana was in progress at Hexham, only two events having been decided, as well as cricket match at Clmtsworth, but everybody left when the alarm was given. Girls and women helped equally to put out the fire and save the sheep.'
