TAURANGA, January 27
Fishing off Mayor Island, Mr H. E. Olding, of Tauranga, captured a mako shark weighing 2581 b. The fish fought fo r an hour, and -after being drawn into the boat, it made a tremendous struggle in th©, cockpit, burying its teeth in gome planking and leaving two teeth, which were broken off, in the wood. STRIPED MARLIN LANDED
RUSSELL, January 27.
Fishing near Gape Brett, Mr H. White. Wickham, of London, hooked and landed a strip marlin .swordfish which weighed 2231 b,. The fish put up a sporting and spectacula r fight, which lasted about an hour, and leaped out of the water over a dozen times.
Later in the day, Mr White-Wickham landed three small mako sharks, weighing 71 lb., 58lb. and 481 b respectively.
