BIG GAME FISHING

• GOOD SPORT AT AVHANGAROA

AUCKLAND, January 23

Brisk sport with big game fish has been experienced on all the AYiiangaroa grounds. Remarkably good revs nits of . the season by Alessr S. Ellis, of ’Hamilton and' B. 8., Watson, of AValton. ...

During the .past- two days Air Ellis landed to swordfish of 2671 b and 1571 b respectively. He had a long tussel with c magnificent black marlin, which rose and struck, but finally escaped. A make of 1001 b completes his bag. Air Watson’s catch for the same period was a swordfish of 2831 b, and

makos of 3401 b and 1651 b. The - 340-

pounder leapt and fought in great stylo,’ showing splendid lasting - powers and an almost unconquerable spirit. This is characteristic of almost all the fish this season, probably .owing to their fine condition.

Mr N. Carr, oil Auckland, made a success of his first attempt by landing a swordfish of 2361 b., which made a great initial run, taking nearly all the line.

Fish are plentiful, and each day with the return of launches from the deep-water grounds the dub records a marked rise.
