r llic 1033 West Coast Lawn Tnmis ( iiampion ships wero commenced this morning nt tins Greymouth, United and St. Coluniba Clubs’ courts. The weather in the morning was fine and warm, though overcast, hut the hrigiht sunshine this afternoon made conditions ideal. All the courts are in good order, and the games are well advanced. All ladies’ matches are being played on the United Courts to-day, while the Grey and St Columb t Courts are being occupied by the men. Some excellent tennis was witnessed this morning, and all' augurs well for a successful tournament.
Miss Mortland (Hokitika) played a line game, defeating Miss D. Rlair 9—5.
