VICTIMS’ CONDITION IMPROVES

LEVIN, January 26
The condition of the victims of the Levin, crossing smash at Oban yesterday .shewed an improvement this morning, both being out of danger. Airs Wallace Datli is recovering from shock, her mother, Airs O’Rourke, being tbe most seriously, injured, her ankle being broken. Four children, three Datli’s„, and one daughter of Mrs Walker, of Plimmer.on. are suffering from cuts a,ad bcui,see. All lmd a miraculous escape from death.
Alt's Hath, who was driving, saw the train when a^oroac hing the crossing at Oban. She applied tbe brakes but they failed to act, and the trainstruck the car with a heavy impact. The car was eruilhed in on one side, and capsized. The sufferers were taken to the Otaki Hospital.
