In a return released by the Minister or Mines, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, lb is -shown that the amount of gold sold to the banks during the last year was 165,827 ounces; valued at £706,595. Although the figures showing the exports of gold from the Dominion for Lite same period are not available, they -will approximate very closely to the value of gdtd sold to the banks. Tim number of individuals selling Inis increased from seventy-nine two years ago, to 1113 in December, ■'532, I'd it is anticipated that Hr.s year’s export of gold will be £1,000,000 ,«■ •over.
