POOR' PRICES FOR LAMBS
TIMARU, January 20. Some farmers in Waimate, South Canterbury, who shipped lambg to England on consignment last season, realised such pcor prices that they barely recovered the costs of the transaction, and in a number of cases, after the lambs were sold, there was still a deficit. One farmer shipped 500 lambs, and they arrived on the market at a time when low rates were ruling. So far he has had no. advice of what happened; to his. shipment, and he has decided to. let the matter rest at that. He says lie is afraid that if he makes any inquiry he may receive in reply a bill for expenses not covered by .the price realised.
