MADE BY ITALY AND BELGUIM. (United Press; Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, January 23. While Mr Roosevelt, at Warm Springs, is prepared to study the economic problem's, both domestic and foreign, it bechihe‘apparent here today that the 'incoming Democratic Administration'' l will be confronted with debt negotiations with virtually all of the. debtor Governments. The first reaction to he HooverRoosevelt communique cabled on January 20th came from Italy, whose Ambassador, Signor Rooso, visited Mr Stimson (United States Secretary), inquiring informally concerning the prospects of debt revision after --arch 4th and also for -ary interpretation of. the communique.

Observers have expressed the opininion that Italy is probably viewing herself in the same category as Britain, by virtue of Italy having met its December instalment, Undoubtedly Italy will seek to have her case reviewed soon after tile British negotiation b started.

Meanwhile the Belgian ambassador, M, May, has viaiod the Under-Secret-ary, Mr Castle, * Sir R. Lindsay (British „,Ministep) conferred with the Assistant-Secretary of State, Mr Bundy. ■S ? Nothing has been disclosed concerning the above calls. It is authoritatively learned that Mr Stimson will confer “when advisable” with Professors Holey and Tugwell, Mr Roosevelt advisers, presumably concerning the phase mentioned in the communique.

BRITAIN AND AMERICA. U.S. PROPOSAL CONSIDERED RUGBY, January 23. A statement was issued, at No 10 Downing Street to-day as. follows: “Mr Stimson informed Sir R. Lindsay on January 20, that Mr Roosevelt would be glad to reveive representatives of the British Government at Washington early in March in order to discuss the British debts to the United States. Mr Roosevelt wished it understood that! this decision must te concurrent with and conditional on the discussion of world economic problems, and therefore, representatives should also be sent to discuss methods of improving the world situation,” The United States proposal is at present under consideration by the Departments concerned.
