REMAINS OF FRENCH LINER
PARIS January Hi. Although the engine and . boiler rooms are not, penetrated by the flames what remains of 'the Preach liner L’Atlantique, which caught fire in the English Channel, will be of little value except as scrap-iron. Tiio search for the bodies of the victims is being carried on. The captains of the tugs which towed the burning liner to deny that the trouble between them vats caused by malicious competition What occurred, they say, was due to the difficulties el one ol the most arduous tows ever undertaken. That tho tow was accomplished was large!v due to the three Dutch seamen who boarded the burning liner and fastened the hawsers of all tho tugs. It is explained that the Dutch tug’s line was cut because if fouled the tow bitt (file part of the liner tr.< which ! the hawsers were fastened). and j threatened to crush the French tug. j Then the Frenchman’s line threatened ! to foul the Dutch tug’s propellor ,and j was cut through. j
