Reserved judgment was given to-day in favour of the defendant in the pro-tracted-case in which Alfred Corkill, a former chairman of the Inglewood County Council, alleged slander against Robert Stuart, the present chairman, and claimed £l2 damages. The claim arose from an election campaign in which Corkill alleged that Stuart had. imputed improped practices to him in the administration of the county, thereby bringing him into illrepnte, and causing his defeat at the polls.
The Magistrate held that Stuart had merely attacked the administration and: had not imputed dishonesty to Corkill.
