ADDINGTON STOCK SALE

CHRISTCHURCH, January 18

Beef was cheaper, also pork, while sheep and lambs were dearer at the Addington market.

There was a smaller yarding of beef. The quality was not up to the standard. It was a dull sale. All classes were easier by 10s to 15s per head. Extra heavy bullocks sold to £9 12s 6d prime £6 15s to £7 17s 6d, medium £4 10s to £5 ss, light steers from £3 os ; best cows £4 5s to £5 ss, one special to £7 2s 6d; heavy cows £4 to £4 12s 6d, light from 27s 6d, Four thousand fat sheep were yarded. There was a scarcity of wethers. The market was firmer by Is per head; There. was a good yarding of fat lambs. Butchers and exporters were operating freely. There was a good clearance at a shade over the schedule rates. Best heavy lambs sold to 16s 4d, some to 15s 7d; prime 13s 6d to 15s, medium 11s 6d to 13s 3d., light from 10s 3d.

The store sheep comprised mostly drafts of lambs. Buying power was fairly strong, and all lots met a ready sale at late r.ates.

Fati pigs were well suplied. The market was easier. Porkers sold from 18s 6d to 22s 6d, heavier 23s 6d to 28s 6d; choppers 32s 6d to 48s 6d; baconers 3Js €d to 37s Cd, heavier £2 to £2 9s 6d.
