Mr Cosgrave speaking at Cavan, said that the d-e VaJerajte Party had promised a reduction in taxation of two millions. Instead it had increased taxation by four millions, while in July it had voted two millions to prosecute the economic war, but it had voted lib taxation to meet the charge. Moreover, hb said they had spent a million pounds in providing work for the unemployed, Whatever Government was returned to power, said Mr Cosgrave, would find that the Free State had begun 1933 with three millions of a debt, and with the country losing a million monthly on exports.
At Cork, bookmakers are offering 6 to 4 against de Valera securing a working majority.
