MINING TROUBLE
WAGES AND LABOUR DISPUTE. REEFTON, January 16. The Murray.. Creek Gold. Mine?, which have just commenced -fresh operations, are .now idle through a dispute over the wages, and re-engaging of labour. About eight men have been employed at this mine during the last three weeks, but tret week all hands were given .a week’s notice a? a new Mine Manager was taking charge on January 16th. When the men approached the -Mine Manager for reinstatement three men were not taken on, and two .new ouc-s were starting. The men were very dissatisfied with the wages offering before the dispute over re-engaging of the men took place, .a.s in the past.
