CHEQUE FOUND
£22,500 IN RAILWAY TRAIN. RENNES, , (France), Dee. 6. . The discovery or 1 an English, cheque ; for 1,800,000 francs (about £22,500 at the present rate .of exchange)| workman repairing a second-class' railway carriage has caused much speculation here. which ■ had slipped down between the door, and. window, was dated November 20th, 1930, and was drawn on Cox’s branch ■' of Lloyd’s Bank, Waterloo Place. The signature of the drawer was illegible. ■. The workman who found the cheque has handed it over to the railway authorities and has written to the bank. In view of the large amount of the cheque, and the fact that it Lad lain hidden so long, it is thought' that possibly it may have been made out as a joke, although the theory is also advaneed that it may have been stolen by some international crook who afterwards feared to cash it. —Reuter. ,
