Captain Hope has received, through the Air Ministry, a telegram from a British tourist, saying that while seven thousand feet up a mountain, near Margins, lie saw a ’plane flying east-south-east. It might have been Hinkler’s, apparently heading for Simplon.

Hope thinks that Hinkler lost his way, and possibly crashed on a mountain wall,
