THEFT OF BEER AT GREY MOUTH

William Gourlay Ricalton, and William Sylvester Roberts, .pleaded guilty to charges of theft of beer from the Westland Brewery, and breaking and entering at railway goods sheds. They were committed to the Supreme Com t for sentence.
* COMMON GAMING HOUSE, Alfred , Henry Cliunn, au.d Daniel McCarthy, ’ charged with using premises as common gaming houses, pleaded guilty and were fined £SO each. The Magistrate (Mr W. Meldrum), said that betting was carried on throughout New Zealand in spite of the law, and heavy penalties would probably continue to he carried on. BREACH OF GAMING ACT. Robert Emmet Bivrroweis, <>f Christchurch, was fini.’d £5 for a breach of the Gaining Act. He made bets and agreed to pay tote , odds outside of Victoria Park, whilst the trots were in progress. On a similar charge George Basan ol Christchurch was fined £2O.
