ARAPUNI VIBRATION
TROUBLESOME UNIT TESTED
ANOTHER DISMANTLING NEEDED
(Per Press Association Copyright.)
WELLINGTON, January 2.
The positon with regard to No. 1 unit at- the Arapuni hyclro-electric power station, which has never cun satisfactorily since its installation two years ago, is unchanged. The unit can only operate at a speed sufficient to supply the power requirements ot the station itself and has never generated power for use outsde the station, owing to the heavy vibration caused by its revolutions.
Frequent tests have been made to adjust the fault and the machine has been. dismantled and reinstal.ed, but without success. Another test has recently been made and measurements have been taken. It is suggested that if the unit is again taken out ot its bed and replaced in accordance with the information acquired as a result of the test it will run satisfactorily. It will take some time to ascertain whether the latest diagnosis of the trouble is correct.
