The Government have submitted to the President ail economy decree of the suspending of the recruiting of State officials and employees until the end cf 1933.
CASINO PROFITS DECLINE. PARIS, January 3. Profits of the French casinos for the past year (have declined J'rom 3310 thousand francs in 1928 to 1214 thousand francs in 1932, the proportion going to the State being 544 thousand compared with 1772 thousand in 1928.
SHIP STRIKES REEF. (Received 11.10) BRISBANE, January 4. It is reported that the Bank Line motor ship Olivebank, struck a reef at New Guinea. The forepeak of the vessel being smashed.
