TRAINS DELAYED

BRIDGE DAMAGED BY FIRE. DUNEDIN, December 28. A small bridge on the Central Otago railway line, between Deep Stream and Flat Stream, was damaged by fire this morning, about ten sleepers l being burned and one of the beams destroyed. There were 89 passengers on the train that left for Cromwell this morning. A breakdown train was dispatched to the spot about 11 a.m. and temporary repairs were effected to the viaduct enabling the passenger train to resume its journey after a delay of about six hours. The train from,Cromwell to Dunedin was also effected by the mishap and arrived about an hour and a half behind schedule time.
