MAN DISAPPEARS

After signing off the P. and O. steamer Ballarat, with the intention of being married, Frederick M’Ewan, 30, third engineer, disappeared on his wedding eve. He went from Brighton to London on December 12 to sell some scrip w’ith which to buy a business, and wrote to his fiancee that he would return to Brighton on the following day. It, is thought that he may have been attacked by thieves, a s he would have had a. considerable sum of money upon him had he disposed of his scrip.
