A deficit of £48,000,000, at the present exchange rate, is provided in the official e stimate s for the 1933-34 Budget. Th e Government, nevertheless, J s plan-' nuig higher expenditure than in 1932-33. The increase will b e largely devoted to reproductive purposes, including land reclamation, agricultural development, and relief work for unemployment. The expenditure on education is increased, but that On t])p fighting services is reduced.
