CYCLING
THE HOKITIKA CLUB. Another series cf races for the Turner Cap was held on 'Cass Square last evening. There was a good attendance of people and the racing proved must intercstng from a spectators’ viewpoint. A maiden race of one mile was held, and was fought out to a very close finish. The results of the various races were as follow: Halt mile:—R. Olsen 1; E. Olsen and 8. Ha.vill equal 2. One mile •—E. Cook 1; E. Olsen 2 ; S. ll.cvill 3. Two mile:—K. Hewlett ]; E. Olsen 2; E. Cook 3. Points: —E. Olsen, 6pts., 1; E.' Cook, 4pts., 2. Maiden race, for trophy donated by Mrs S. Havill jnr.—I. Olson 1; C. Cook 2; J. Roberts 3. Also started.— N. Jellie and G. Pitcairn. The next races to be held- will bo for the Cup on Wednesday, January llih. Nominations close with the assistant secretary on Saturday. If sufficient nominations are forthcoming another madden race will be held.
