THEFT AT POINT OF REVOLVER. (Per. Press Association — Copyright .) DUNEDIN, December 26. A daring hold-up occurred at Balclutha on Saturday’ night about ten o’clock when the shops were at the busiest period. A masked man entered the premises of Guest and Sons, and. approaching the cashier, Grace Cameron, demanded “hands up!” at the point of a revolver. Pie extracted a sum estimated at from £3O to £4O from the cash register, and decamped without being identified.
The whole affair, occupied only a few seconds. Miss Cameron, at first thought!- ,it was a member of the Guest family playing a joke, and she leaned forward and removed the intruder’s cap. The robber was a tall man, fair, land a long black scarf, with two slits for the eyeholes, formed his mask.
The money stolen represented only a portion of the contents of the register, which contained several hundred pounds. The robber left his hat behind, which should afford a valuable clue.
